Detailed Review of the AUDI A6 Avant e-tron Electrical Vehicle

Overview of the AUDI A6 Avant e-tron

According to the recently adopted AUDI strategy, even indexes were given to electric models. Therefore, the new generation Audi A6 is an electric car on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, which does not even imply the creation of hybrid versions, let alone purely fuel models. The Audi A6 e-tron follows the new paradigm of the corporate design, tested on the Q6 e-tron crossover. The main feature is that Audi electric cars got two-story headlights, while cars with internal combustion engines retained traditional lighting technology. The A6 e-tron also has recessed door handles and matrix lighting technology with the ability to change the "pattern".

Design and Dimensions

The electric car is presented with two body types, and there is no sedan among them. The choice is the Audi A6 e-tron Sportback liftback and the Audi A6 e-tron Avant station wagon. They are the same length (4930 mm) and width (1920 mm), but the station wagon is slightly higher than the liftback: 1510 mm versus 1490 mm. The wheelbase is 2950 mm. The volume of the trunk under the curtain does not depend on the body type: 502 liters. With the rear row folded, the station wagon holds 1422 liters versus 1330 liters for the liftback. There is also a small front trunk (27 liters).

Aerodynamics and Interior

When developing the new electric car, special attention was paid to the development of aerodynamics. As a result, the Audi A6 e-tron can boast a record for the brand aerodynamic drag Cx: only 0.21 for the liftback, although even for the concept car they declared 0.22. The Avant station wagon is less streamlined: it has 0.24. The interior of the new "A-sixth" almost completely repeats the interior of the platform crossover Q6 e-tron. There is a curved front panel with two standard screens: 11.9 inches for instruments and 14.5 inches for a new-generation multimedia system based on Android Automotive OS. There is also an optional third display with a diagonal of 10.9 inches for the front passenger. Buyers are also offered a panoramic roof, four-zone climate control with an air fragrancing function, an 830-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system with twenty speakers and an advanced autonomous driving system.

Performance and Battery

The basic Audi A6 e-tron is equipped with a single electric motor on the rear axle, which produces 367 hp. The all-wheel drive quattro version has two motors that develop 428 hp. And the most driver-oriented modification of the Audi S6 e-tron is also immediately presented, in which two motors together produce 503 hp, and in launch control mode, the power briefly reaches 551 hp. In this case, acceleration to “hundreds” takes 3.7 seconds, the maximum speed is 240 km/h. An even more powerful modification of the Audi RS6 e-tron is also promised, but it will appear later. All versions have the same 800-volt electrical system and a traction battery with an effective capacity of 94.9 kW h. The passport power reserve of the rear-wheel drive versions is 757 km for the liftback and 721 km for the station wagon. The Audi S6 e-tron has more modest figures: 676 and 648 km, respectively. The maximum DC charging power reaches 270 kW. Later, more affordable versions with a battery capacity of 83 kW h are promised. The Audi A6 e-tron has a spring suspension, but for an extra charge, an air suspension is available, which automatically reduces the ground clearance by 20 mm at high speed.

Range and Charging

The real-world range for the Audi A6 Avant e-tron ranges between 410 km and 810 km, depending on driving conditions. In cold weather, the city range is about 535 km, with a highway range of 410 km. In mild weather, the city range extends to 810 km and the highway range to 535 km. The estimated charging time with a DC fast charger is significantly reduced with the maximum DC charging power reaching 270 kW.
