How does it compare?
The Hongqi Tiangong 06 isn’t just another flashy electric SUV from China—it’s a 450-horsepower AWD missile disguised as a $25,000 family hauler. That combo alone sends shockwaves through a segment dominated by far pricier rivals. To see if it’s just smoke and mirrors or a real disruptor, we stack it up against the Tesla Model Y Long Range, Kia EV6 AWD, Skoda Enyaq RS, and Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD. All electric. All mid-size SUVs. But none hit the spec-to-price ratio quite like the Tiangong 06.
Range
The Tiangong 06 stretches an astonishing 780 km (485 miles) CLTC thanks to a 100 kWh battery. Translate that to real-world WLTP and you’re still looking at around 600 km (373 miles). That crushes the Model Y Long Range at 533 km (331 miles), the EV6 AWD at 506 km (314 miles), and the Enyaq RS at 510 km (317 miles). Mach-E AWD hovers lower at 490 km (304 miles). For highway warriors and road-trip warriors alike, Hongqi’s range obliterates expectations in this bracket.
Acceleration
Zero to 100 km/h in 5 seconds flat? The Tiangong 06 doesn’t just show up—it races in. Model Y Long Range takes 5.0 seconds, EV6 AWD clocks 5.2, Enyaq RS chugs along at 6.5, and Mach-E AWD falls in around 5.1. For something priced like a base Corolla, the Tiangong’s straight-line pace feels more like a punchline—but it’s very real.
Power
With 450 hp (335 kW), the Tiangong 06 puts more muscle on the ground than the Model Y LR (384 hp / 286 kW), EV6 AWD (325 hp / 239 kW), Enyaq RS (295 hp / 220 kW), and Mach-E AWD (351 hp / 262 kW). If it were a drag race, Hongqi takes the crown—and leaves the others asking how it’s even possible at this price.
Charging Time
Equipped with 800V architecture and fast charging capabilities above 200 kW, the Tiangong 06 charges from 10–80% in under 25 minutes. That’s in line with EV6 AWD and Model Y, and quicker than Enyaq RS and Mach-E AWD that top out around 135–150 kW. Hongqi’s rumored battery-swap capability is icing on the cake for tech-forward markets.
Price
This is where jaws drop. The Tiangong 06 rolls out at just $25,000 (€23,000). The Model Y Long Range will run you $54,000 (€49,000), EV6 AWD hovers at $52,000 (€47,000), Enyaq RS sits around $57,000 (€51,500), and Mach-E AWD isn't shy either at $55,000 (€50,000). For the price of one Tesla, you could nearly grab two Tiangongs—and still outrun it in some specs.
