How does it compare?
The NIO EC6 Sport is here to outshine its competition within the mid-size SUV electric vehicle segment. Battling fervently with fellow EVs like the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Jaguar I-Pace, and Audi Q4 e-tron, the EC6 brings a tantalizing mixture of power, range, and price to the table.
Range
In the skirmish for longest range, the NIO EC6 Sport stands tall with its impressive 605 km (375 mi) on a single charge. This eclipses the Jaguar I-Pace with its rather modest 470 km (292 mi). Meanwhile, the Ford Mustang Mach-E trots in at 491 km (305 mi) and the Tesla Model Y trails with a noticeable 506 km (314 mi). The Audi Q4 e-tron completes the troupe, lagging around the 520 km (323 mi) mark. Advantage, NIO.
Acceleration
The NIO EC6 Sport leaps from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in a zestful 5.4 seconds. While this is peppy, it isn’t the headliner. The Tesla Model Y darts ahead doing the same sprint in 3.5 seconds. The Ford Mustang Mach-E gallops reasonably well at 4.8 seconds, whereas the Jaguar I-Pace claws it out in 4.5 seconds. The Audi Q4 e-tron brings up the caboose, with 5.8 seconds. Let’s say, the EC6 doesn’t win the 100m dash but offers decent hurrah.
Power
When it comes to raw power, the NIO EC6 Sport flaunts a formidable 435 horsepower. The Tesla Model Y is a showstopper with a stunning 450 horsepower. The Ford Mustang Mach-E charges energetically at 459 horsepower whilst the feline elegance of the Jaguar I-Pace prowls at 400 horsepower. The Audi Q4 e-tron meanwhile treads wisely, with 408 horsepower. A slight power edge plays in favor of Tesla and Ford, but the NIO isn’t far behind, keeping the throttle pressed.
Charging Time
The NIO EC6 Sport boasts a 100 kWh battery, which when connected to a fast charger, can juice up to 80 percent in a swift 30 minutes. The Tesla Model Y similarly, goes from zilch to 80 percent in a comparable 25 minutes, thanks to their Supercharger network. An equally hungry Jaguar I-Pace takes 45 minutes, while the Ford Mustang Mach-E needs around 38 minutes for a similar feat. Lastly, our friend, the Audi Q4 e-tron, matches the NIO closely at 30 minutes. Charging time is a mixed bag, but no major complaints here.
Price
The financials – the NIO EC6 Sport steps in at 66,000 USD (47,000 GBP or 56,000 EUR). Prices, of course, are volatile as politicians promises. The Tesla Model Y demands around 70,000 USD (50,000 GBP or 60,000 EUR). The Ford Mustang Mach-E revs in at roughly 60,000 USD (43,000 GBP or 51,000 EUR). Pounce for a Jaguar I-Pace? Be ready to part with 80,000 USD (57,000 GBP or 68,000 EUR). The Audi Q4 e-tron, albeit, nudges close at around 65,000 USD (46,000 GBP or 55,000 EUR). The NIO EC6 is keenly affordable, saving you some pocket pounds and pennies while providing robust value.
