Kia EV5 Review ⚡

Technical Specifications, Price and Review on the new Kia EV5.

Kia EV5: Refined Design Meets Sustainable Innovation

The Kia EV5, a compact crossover SUV, stands out as Kia's third entrant into the battery electric vehicle segment, following its predecessors EV6 and EV9. Launched in 2023, this model holds the distinction of being the brand's pioneering battery electric vehicle to be exported from China, manufactured in collaboration with Dongfeng Yueda Kia.

Design & Interiors:

Kia has left no stone unturned to ensure that the EV5 encapsulates both luxury and function.

The interiors are opulent, flaunting a dual-screen expansive dashboard, complemented by plush brown leather seating. An intriguing feature is the cushion arrangement seen between the driver and co-passenger seats, offering a unique touch, albeit without an additional seatbelt, ruling out the possibility of a bench seat.

The "Opposites United" design language of Kia shapes the aesthetics of the EV5. The exterior features an updated iteration of Kia's signature 'Digital Tiger Face', enhanced with a fresh lighting signature.

While the EV5's design is undoubtedly captivating, its commitment to sustainability sets it apart. The concept has integrated eco-friendly materials in its interiors, leveraging plant-derived substances such as seaweed extract and employing recycled plastic bottles for its seat trim, headliner, and linings on the doors and dashboard.

Performance & Power:

The EV5 is powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, crafted by the industry stalwart BYD. This battery teams up with a 160 kW (215 hp; 218 PS) electric motor, delivering a maximum torque of 310 N⋅m (31.6 kg⋅m; 229 lb⋅ft). But for markets outside of its origin, the EV5 will be outfitted with a nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery, boasting a capacity that can stretch up to 82 kWh.

Launch & Reception:

Kia first teased the auto enthusiasts with a concept car for the EV5 at their EV Day event in China on 20 March 2023. This hint at what was to come was then actualized in August 2023, as the production version graced the Chengdu Motor Show.

Final Thoughts:

The Kia EV5 isn't just a vehicle; it's a manifestation of Kia's vision for the future. Blending a sustainable approach with unmatched design aesthetics, the EV5 isn't just a car for today but a beacon for the future of sustainable automobility.
