How does it compare?
Range
The Mercedes EQS SUV 450+ boasts an impressive range of 660 km (410 miles), courtesy of its robust 107.8 kWh battery. In comparison, the Tesla Model X offers a range of 560 km (348 miles) with a 100 kWh battery, which might seem inferior next to the Mercedes. However, the BMW iX claws back slightly with a range of 610 km (379 miles) from an effective 105.2 kWh battery. The Audi e-tron, with its 95 kWh pack, accomplishes 440 km (273 miles) on a single charge, leaving it somewhat behind in this marathon. Meanwhile, the Jaguar I-PACE trudges along with 470 km (292 miles) from its 90 kWh battery, lagging behind the EQS’s stellar endurance.
Acceleration
When the traffic light flips to green, the EQS SUV 450+ is no slouch, darting from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a respectable 6.7 seconds. Yet, here the Tesla Model X flexes its muscles, achieving the same sprint in a blistering 2.6 seconds. The BMW iX is also sprightly, managing this feat in 4.6 seconds, while the Audi e-tron settles somewhere in the middle with 5.5 seconds. Unfortunately, the Jaguar I-PACE huffs and puffs, hitting 100 km/h in around 4.8 seconds.
Power
Under the bonnet, the EQS SUV 450+ delivers a hearty 360 hp. The Tesla Model X once again sets a high bar with a staggering 1,020 hp, which is pure lunacy. The BMW iX follows with a commendable 516 hp, while the Audi e-tron dishes out 402 hp. The gentle cat in this electric jungle, the Jaguar I-PACE, provides 394 hp.
Charging Time
Charging efficiency is imperative for any EV worth its salt. The EQS SUV 450+ is capable of fast charging up to 200 kW, which translates to approximately 31 minutes for an 80% top-up. The Tesla Model X features a similarly quick charging rate, with Supercharger access enabling rapid fill-ups.
However, the BMW iX can also juice up to 80% in about 35 minutes with a 200 kW charger. The Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-PACE trail behind slightly, both requiring about 30 minutes to reach 80% with their maximum charging rates of 150 kW and 100 kW, respectively.
Price
The Mercedes EQS SUV 450+ commands a premium, with a starting price of around $104,400, £77,000, or €90,000. The wallet-draining Tesla Model X starts at roughly $110,000, £80,000, or €108,000. On the other hand, the BMW iX offers a more palatable starting price of $83,200, £70,000, or €105,000. The Audi e-tron begins at $74,800, £69,000, or €95,000 and the Jaguar I-PACE settles in at about $69,850, £64,000, or €79,000.
