How does it compare?
IM Motors L6, a sophisticated contraption straight out of China, is looking to shake up the mid-range electric vehicle (EV) market. But does it truly hold a candle to its peers like the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT, and the Lucid Air?
Range
First up, lets talk range. The IM Motors L6 boasts an impressive 770 kilometers on a single charge. That’s roughly 478 miles for those still hung up on the Imperial system. Meanwhile, the Tesla Model S delivers around 652 kilometers or about 405 miles. Cue the smirks from the techies. The Porsche Taycan comes in at 450 kilometers (280 miles) and the Lucid Air drops jaws with an outrageous 837 kilometers (520 miles). The Audi e-tron GT? Let’s just say its 487 kilometers (303 miles) wont win any bragging rights at the EV fan club.
Acceleration
Now, about post-stoplight sprints. The IM Motors L6 surprises with a nippy acceleration, doing 0-100 km/h in a flash. But can it outpace the Tesla Model S with its gut-wrenching, hair-raising, 2.4-second sprint? Not quite. The Porsche Taycan keeps it spicy with a blistering 3.2-second run, while the Audi e-tron GT and the Lucid Air aren’t lingering in the slow lane either, clocking in at about 3.4 seconds and a downright untamed 2.5 seconds, respectively.
Power
Power—a word that makes any automotive enthusiast’s heart race. The IM Motors L6 churns out a respectable 579 horses. But the Tesla Model S lays waste with a gut-busting 1,020 h.p. The Porsche Taycan delivers a hearty 750 h.p., while the Audi e-tron GT whispers sweet nothings at 637 h.p. The Lucid Air smashes through with an absurd 1,111 h.p., a figure so staggeringly insane that it borders on lunacy.
Charging Time
For charging time, the IM Motors L6 isn’t lounging about. A rapid future awaits those plugged into a high-speed charger, but specifics are yet to dazzle us. The Tesla Model S laughs heartily as it reaches about an 80% charge in merely 15 minutes. The Porsche Taycan, with its sheer German efficiency, requires about 22.5 minutes to reach the same charge, while the Audi e-tron GT follows closely behind. The Lucid Air, in its bid for supremacy, takes around 20 minutes for an 80% boost.
Price
And finally, the price tag. The IM Motors L6 steps into the fray at a cool 49,700 US dollars, 40,500 GB pounds, or about 47,500 euros. A true bargain. The Tesla Model S tugs at wallets with its 89,990 dollars (73,990 pounds, 79,990 euros) price, while the Porsche Taycan doesn’t spare any blushes with a hefty 82,700 dollars (65,000 pounds, 76,200 euros). The Audi e-tron GT is poised at around 99,900 dollars (83,000 pounds, 92,800 euros), and the Lucid Air? Prepare for a staggering 139,000 dollars (114,000 pounds, 129,000 euros).
